Our paper J.Wen, L.Lu, G.Casale, E.Smirni “Less can be More: micro-Managing VMs in Amazon EC2” has been accepted for IEEE CLOUD 2015. The paper presents a performance characterization of t1.micro VMs on Amazon EC2. The paper also examines the cost-performance trade-offs of t1.micro and proposes an algorithm for managing long running applications in spite of capacity stealing by the provider.
My team is now officially member of the SPEC RG Working Group on DevOps Performance.
MeetMon is a undergraduate group project I recently supervised in collaboration (and with the generous support) of CloudBees, a popular platform-as-service provider. MeetMon is a cloud-based mashup application that combines the Google Maps and meetup.com APIs to display ongoing events in London. Congratulations to the group (Oana Cocarascu, Paulina Koch, Kalli Koulloufidou, Andreas Papageorgiou, Gergios Skouroupathis) for an excellent project and many thanks to Francois Dechery and Cyrille Le Clerk at CloudBees for their help and support!
