We completed this project in collaboration with BASF researchers Dr Robert M Lee and Dr Gerhard Krennrich. PhD student Miten Mistry studied an interesting optimisation problem with functions learnt from data, e.g. gradient boosted trees, embedded. The resulting paper, Mixed-integer convex nonlinear optimisation with gradient-boosted trees embedded, was published in INFORMS Journal on Computing. Miten’s work also set the groundwork for what later became our code ENTMOOT.
