Hadeel Surougi

Hadeel Surougi is a PhD student supervised by Prof Julie McCann in AESE Group of Department of Computing at Imperial College London. Her research is interested in improving the quality of life of visually impaired individuals (VIP) by employing computer vision, deep learning, and simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) techniques. Currently, Hadeel is working on developing AE-Aware system that aims to assist VIP in perceiving known and unknown surroundings quickly, moving through the environment independently and safely, and avoiding life-threating situations.
In 2018, she obtained a MSc degree with distinction in Advanced Distributed Systems from the University of Leicester, UK. In 2012, she obtained a BSc degree with first-class honour in Computer Science from the University of Umm-Alqura, Saudi Arabia.
