Dr Reza Akhavan

Reza is a former Research Associate at Imperial College London, and Intel Collaborative Research Institute (ICRI) for Sustainable Connected Cities.  He is a Task Leader of FP7 WISDOM Project. He received  his PhD in Telecommunications Research from King’s College London in 2013. Prior to this position, he was a Senior Researcher and an M2M Expert with the Research & Innovation, British Telecom (BT), UK. Before joining BT, he was a Networks Researcher with the M2M Group, Vodafone Group Research and Development, UK from 2010 to 2013. He participated in various projects such as next generation of location technologies and was a task leader in FP7 EXALTED (Expalnding LTE for Devices) project. Moreover, he worked on JSPS’s 60 GHz project at Tohoku University, Japan in 2010. Whilst doing an M.Sc. programme he was qualified to participate in HSDPA project offered by Ericsson in 2006. His research interests are Internet of Things (IoT), Smart Cities, Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN), TV White Space, RPL (IPv6 Routing Protocol for Low Power and Lossy Network), 60 GHz mmWave, 5G, and Wireless Sensor Networks. He is a member of IEEE.
