Mr George Bisbas

George joined SPO in October 2018 after graduating from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece.  He is working on the Devito project, on performance optimisations for non-mesh-aligned sources and receivers, in particular by enhancing locality by tiling across multiple timesteps.

Prof. David Ham

Leads the Firedrake Project, an automated system for the solution of partial differential equations using the finite element method (FEM). Firedrake uses sophisticated code generation to provide mathematicians, scientists, and engineers with a very high productivity way to create sophisticated high performance simulations.  Firedrake is the focus for a long-standing collaboration with the SPO group on compiler technology to automate domain-specific performance optimisations.

Mr Marius Koch

Marius Koch has been a PhD student at Imperial since 2017, working on in-situ analysis in computational fluid dynamics – aiming to identify and classify vortices as the simulation runs at scale.  He is affiliated with SPO; his first supervisor is Dr Peter Vincent in Aeronautical Engineering.

Mr Navjot Kukreja

Navjot is a PhD student (since 2017) working on the Devito project, leading work on managing memory, checkpoints, recomputation and compression in full waveform inversion.  He has also led work on applying Devito in deep learning.  He is affiliated with the SPO group; his first supervisor is Dr Gerard Gorman in Earth Science Engineering.

Dr Fabio Luporini

Contributed several major optimisation technologies for the Firedrake Project during his PhD.  Currently a senior Research Associate Earth Science Engineering, working as the lead developer on the Devito Project, a Domain-specific Language (DSL) and code generation framework for the design of highly optimised finite difference kernels for use in inversion methods.  Devito is the focus for continuing exciting research collaboration with the SPO group.
